Frequently Asked Questions
(Please read our FAQ's. We promise it's worth the read and will likely answer all of your questions!)
What is MyBeadKit.com?
We sell jewelry-making kits! We are a mother-daughter team who own a bead shop called Beads 'N Things located in the Village of Pittsford in beautiful Upstate NY! We created www.mybeadkit.com to make our jewelry-making kits available to our customers nationwide!
How much is shipping and where do you ship?
We currently ship to U.S. addresses only. We process and ship all orders via USPS Mail within 1 to 2 business days of order receipt. We are usually super quick with order processing! Please understand we are a small, family-owned business and order processing may take longer depending on order volume. We will notify you if an order will be shipped from our shop beyond 4 business days.
For orders under $40, we charge a flat rate of $4.95 for USPS First Class Shipping with tracking. For orders over $40, shipping is FREE!!
USPS shipping is usually very quick! However, please be aware that we cannot guarantee shipping / delivery dates. In other words, once a package is dropped off by us and processed by the post office, we have absolutely no way of controlling or expediting delivery in any way whatsoever. We thank you for your patience and understanding!
If you need something by a specific date, please contact us directly so we can make delivery arrangements using an "express shipping" service (expect much higher additional fees for this guaranteed special delivery service...usually upwards of $35 to $60 extra for guaranteed USPS shipping, or possibly more).
I'm a local customer and want to come to your shop to pick out my kit in person. Will kits be available at your bead shop?
Yes! We offer the kits you see on our website in our bead shop in Pittsford, NY! Bracelet, necklace, and earring kit samples are also available for viewing at our shop. You are also welcome to select your own customized "beading ingredients" during your visit to make your own special bracelets!
If you see a bracelet kit on mybeadkit.com that you would like to buy online and then pick-up in person, please use discount code LOCALPICKUP during online checkout to ensure you are not charged for shipping. We will call you when your order is ready for pick-up at our shop in Pittsford, NY.
What is your Return Policy?
Please Note: All sales FINAL on marked-down and discontinued sale items. No returns on sale items. No returns on custom made finished jewelry.
For all other regularly priced items: If for some reason you are not completely satisfied with your order, you have ten (10) calendar days from the date you received your order to contact us through this website or call our bead shop directly (585)586-7230 and request a return authorization:

Please Note: Customers are responsible for returning items in their original condition and in their original packaging. If we find the returned items are not in their original condition and have been altered/damaged in any way, your refund will be forfeited.
What if I want YOU to make a bracelet or other jewelry I see on your website for me?
Please contact us through this website to make special arrangements to have us make jewelry for you. We charge a reasonable service fee for all finished items. We will invoice you separately for your finished jewelry order. Please note that finished jewelry may take anywhere from 7-10 days to ship (possibly quicker) depending on our order volumes, so we ask that you please plan your orders accordingly. No returns on custom made finished jewelry. Thank you!
I'm brand new to beading, do you think I can make the projects featured on your website?
We have taught countless first-time beaders who tell us these are VERY do-able projects! Besides, it never hurts to try something new and see how it goes! We've also made our kits affordable so you don't have to make a huge financial commitment to try out jewelry making.
If you are interested in our Leather Wrap Bracelet kits, we strongly encourage you to watch our video tutorial! It's less than 12 minutes of your time and well worth it!
Please understand that construction of many of the bracelets and some of the earrings requires handling a very fine beading needle (about the thickness and length of a cat's whisker), very fine beading thread, and small beads that range in size from 1/8" to 1/4". Good dexterity with the ability to handle very small objects will be necessary in order to complete your bracelet.
Everyone has different abilities, therefore we cannot make any guarantees of success.
What is a "leather wrap bracelet"?
This popular style of bracelet typically incorporates beads sewn between some type of cord using needle and thread. The bracelet is often fastened with a button through a button loop. Our bracelets use thin leather (typically 1.3mm to 1.5mm) and beads sized from very tiny 2mm up to much larger 8mm. When we refer to "single wrap" bracelet, we mean the bracelet goes around the wrist just once. A "double wrap" will go around the wrist twice....a "triple wrap" goes around the wrist 3 times, etc. The buttons we use to fasten the bracelets are sized slightly smaller than a U.S. currency dime.
Do the kits come with detailed instructions?
Yes! We include a tutorial sheet with photo instructions in every kit unless otherwise noted in the product description.
The COMPLETE instruction for the leather wrap bracelet kits is available on our YouTube channel. Please click here to watch our video tutorial! We also include a tutorial sheet with photos, but we strongly suggest everyone watch the video to understand the basic construction of the bracelet which may be viewed on our YouTube channel.
Will the leather, beads, needle, button or thread in my kit break??
That depends on how you handle these supplies! Are you yanking the leather way too hard when you make the knots? Are you bending the needle really hard for some reason? Are you forcing the needle through a small hole bead way too many times making the bead crack and break? Are you keeping your thread tension way too loose causing your needle to split and shred the thread? If so, then we would have to say: "Yes! It's certainly possible these items can break"... but under "normal" circumstances when making your jewelry, everything should be fine!! Please understand that we cannot make any guarantees against breakage. However, please know we carefully inspect every single item placed in your kit to ensure it is sent to you in pristine condition.
Will my finished jewelry break??
Again, it all depends on how you handle the jewelry once it is completed!! We think it's safe to say that your jewelry should hold up quite well through "normal wear and tear". We STRONGLY discourage wearing any beaded jewelry in the shower or in a pool. Please understand we cannot make any guarantees against breakage.
Where can I get the clipboard and rubberbands shown in the leather wrap bracelet video tutorial?
We bought those at our local office supply store.

Who takes your photos?
We do all of our own product photography outside in the great outdoors of Rochester, NY and, in some cases, in a studio lighting setting. We do very little editing of photos in terms of color correction, however we may enhance the brightness or exposure depending on the time of year (winter versus summer, cloudy versus sunny, etc.) Please note that, as with any item, colors will absolutely look different in different lighting and in the indoors versus the outdoors. We do our best to show items as they are in the most natural outdoor setting.
